A Letter From Erecia

Dear Stalwarts & Delegates,

As a 37-year-old young woman, I have been active in the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) for most of my adult life. I first joined the PLP and became the education committee Chair under Andrew Edwards PYL leadership.  Shortly after that, I left The Bahamas to complete my academic career aboard.

During the years, 2012-2015, I have had the privilege of serving as Chairman of the Garden Hills PLP Branch. In that time, I have learned a lot and we have made significant progress as a body and as an organisation. Our branch was successful in electing Dr. Kendall Major as the Garden Hills Member of Parliament in 2012 and I was the campaign coordinator for Garden Hills Branch in the 2017 elections.

I am also an active member in the National Progressive Institute, which serves as the PLP’s “think tank”; a member of the PLP Woman’s Branch; and the Faculty Advisor of The University of The Bahamas PYL chapter. I was instrumental in ensuring PYL’s access on UB’s Campus and was a member of Alfred Sears leadership bid campaign at our last party convention.

When I decided to run for the position of Branch Chairman for Garden Hills it was important for me to offer a strong platform and clear goals, so we would have a successful branch. With all of those goals accomplished, I encouraged a younger Branch Chairman to step forward, and I am pleased to note that we have a 24-year-old motivated male millennial.

We are all aware of the last general election results and I am motivated more than ever to carry out the needed work that will ensure our Party’s success at the polls in 2022. I am encouraged by the positive impact that was made while serving in all of my capacities in the party.

I humbly and sincerely urge you to choose proven Leadership over Legacy as we get back to The PLP Way and Redefine Our Party’s Vision. With your vote, coupled with my past experiences and track record of success, I am confident all of our goals will be accomplished together.  Choose a Deputy Chairman that realizes that even though you have to work with everyone you should be able to STAND ON YOUR OWN and let YOUR RECORD speak for itself. Pick a candidate not a TICKET that will do the BEST for our PARTY.
